Rory, a Mixed Media painting

Hi guys ! Nolwenn Petitbois here with you today.

I am pleased to share one of the mixed media canvas I made for our CHA booth next month (will some of you be there ?).

I used the gorgeous set Autumn Leaves exclusively. You know by now that I love a good challenge 😉 I think that the fact our sprays have now some company with matching embossing powders, the newest ones have glitters and we can also have some Flat Fabios (no shimmer) and Moon Shadows (shimmery walnut ink base) makes our brand a really complete one.

I used both heavy gesso and heavy gel to create texture on the canvas before any spraying. The ink is not absorbed in the same way depending on the surface, as you can see. The gel allows a great resist effect.

Our embossing powders are as unique as our sprays, I used them twice. Terra Cotta Rust fort her heart, and Midnight Copper Obsidian for the stars.

I mixed some Red Hot Poker Orange Magical Mica with fiber paste to make her hair. I noticed with experience that it’s best to activate the Magical with a bit of water before mixing it with any kind of texture paste, so it will blend as its fullet potential. To create more depth, I sprayed some Autumn Maple Crimson once the first layer was dry.

I also used the Magical for her face: Autumn Maple Crimson for her cheeks, and Tibetan Poppy Teal for her eyes (this is the color I could use over and over without getting tired of it !).

To tie everything together, I finally splattered a bit of Cattail Copper Brown.

I like very much how it turned out, and I hope you’ll enjoy watching my process video (remember to turn the HD on):
