This will be a little unusual for me in that this is a simple idea and it’s not just that I think it’s a simple idea, but it’s actually really easy. Now the reason I’ve done this is because several times a year we all need to make bulk cards – I don’t know about you all but I dread this! So today I will show you haw to make a gorgeous background that I’ve chosen to use on a Non-traditional Christmas card – but the idea could easily be adapted for any seasonal occasion. The key elements to this are minimal colours and coordinating background and embellishments, which Lindy’s Stamp Gang makes really easy with their versatile products.
What I used:
- Lindy’s Stamp Gang – Jazzy Jivin Purple, Tea Pot Purple Starbursts and Moonlit Mulberry Moonshadow Mist.
- Various Dies and stamps to create embellishments
- Pink Paislee Resist Cardstock – 12 x 12 Mistables
- Archival Ink – Deep Purple and Coffee
- Zva Creative Adhesive Crystals – Rainbow
- Stickles Glitter Glue – Stardust
Instructions
Begin by either cutting resist card to size ot create your own by using clear embossing powder (from Lindy’s Stamp Gang of course) over patterned paper.
The shiny raised surfaces are the parts which will resist.
Spray your colour diagonally across the middle of the card, make sure you lay down a nice heavy coverage so you get a beautiful even result. I used the Jazzy Jivin’ Purple for this.
Next cover the rest of the surface with the Moonshadow Mist, I used Moonlit Mulberry as the shimmer colour complimented the purple.
Allow the spray to remain on the card for 30 seconds, then grab an absorbent paper towel and blot up the excess liquid (or you could use a journal page to blot off the excess).
It will look a little grubby at this point!
Take a baby wipe or damp tissue and carefully wipe the surface of the resist or embossed areas (only these areas), this will clean the surface and make your background look much nicer and the resist pattern stand out more clearly.
Spray some plain white card with the Moonlit Mulberry and a separate piece with Tea Pot purple. Allow to dry and then die cut shapes to use for embellishments. I stamped using coordinating colours and stuck to a minimal palette of purples and browns.
Add a little clear Stickles to highlight edges and shapes and add a similar coloured ribbon to complete the card.
