We are over the moon to be able to have Louise Nelson and Rita Bakarat with us for a whole month creating some incredible projects using Lindy’s Stamp Gang! Here is a bit about these talented souls, and a sneak peak of what’s to come from them this month!
LOUISE NELSON
“By day I am a registered nurse. I specialise in Operating Room Nursing, working with a specialist agency here in Adelaide Australia. I work mostly in Adelaide’s larger Public and Private hospitals, mostly in the areas of Emergency and Trauma.
I create because it helps to balance out the day to day stresses of my profession, and it satisfies my arty yearnings. I have always had creative hobbies, before taking up scrapbooking 6 years ago I loved to restore furniture. Since I have started scrapbooking I have also developed a love for portrait photography, and more recently I have begun to dabble in painting.
During the last 6 years I have been fortunate to have been a Creative Design Team member for Scrapbooking Memories Magazine [AUS] in 2009 and a Scrapbooking Memories Master for 2012. Also fortunate to be invited to be a past Creative Design Team member for UK based scrapbooking magazine; Scrap365.
Currently, I create for Jenni Bowlin Studio, Imaginarium Designs, 7 Dots Studio and Prima Marketing. I have been blessed to be regularly published in Scrapbooking Memories [AUS] in the past, and have also been featured in the last 6 editions of Somerset Memories [US], with technique articles and layouts in the reader gallery.
“My name is Rita Barakat. I live in Dallas, Texas. I am happily married and I am blessed to be a stay at home mom to five fabulous kids. Two are now adults and the younger ones are in elementary school! Yes, we are a busy bunch!
When we bought our first home I went crazy, and painted murals first in the kids rooms then, the other rooms of the house. The word got out in the neighborhood and pretty soon I was getting paid to paint murals in all the local homes & businesses. About 11 years ago when we adopted our first child Istumbled upon scrapbooking; I was hooked! I needed a special kind of baby book (a life book ) and I knew this was the way to do it! We went on to adopt two more kids —as a mom of five, being creative was not a priority but this was a good outlet for me at the time. I love the idea of telling their stories – our stories but in a beautiful form everyone can enjoy.
Since then I have had my work published in a variety of magazines, sold my work and
have been honored to work with some really great manufacturers. I love being a part of
this industry and being creative on a regular basis. I have been lucky enough to work with
companies that understand creative souls and somehow my art kept finding it’s way back
into my scrapbook pages and I realized how much I really missed it! Then the term “mixed
media” hit the creative scene and I was so excited because “mixed media” is what I have
always done – it just didn’t have a name! So I found my niche, I am a mixed media artist!”
