Altered Birdhouse

Hello Hello … Natalie here today!
I am LOVING the November Color Challenge!

Such beautiful and earthy colors and ideal for creating this little chipboard Birdhouse from Imaginarium Designs! I used the November sets to create this little number!

Nov2015MEGAset NOV2015 spray set copy Nov EPset 2015

I coated the chipboard with gesso first so that the sprays didn’t sink into the chipboard and then used a Stencil Girl stencil to add some texture.

I used two colors for the birdhouse ….Bucket o’Blood Red- Moon Shadow Mist & Canna Lily Burnt Orange

The chipboard leaves were colored with Greased Lightnin’ Green and the chipboard branches were double embossed with Oakleaf Olive (double dipping is where you head set the powder then while it is still hot, dip it back into the powder to create a super thick glossy coat)

The metal leaves were coated in Prima Clear Gesso and then I sprayed them with Golden Sleigh Bells ... it just gives them the sweetest glimmery sheen

When I put the feet on the birdhouse, I couldn’t find any brass brads … only yellow … so here is a quick tutorial on how I colored them … so easy!  So I then added some Gilded Burgundy Brass  embossing powder to the feet to match!

So I hope that you like it! (All of the colors mentioned are part of our November Color Challenge Set)
It was really fun and simple to make!

Have a great day!

Natalie

  1. Natalie your birdhouse is amazing. So pretty, lovely flowers, fantastic colors and great way to emboss metal. Can I ask you how big it is ? Is it a ready bought birdhouse or did you assamble it after die cutting it ??
Thank you for sharing this decorativ piece of art.
