Watercolor with Stencil Technique

Hi Lindy’s fans!  Caroline with you today to show you a super fun technique or watercolor effect. I used the fabulous Starburst sprays to do my backgrounds. I made a card and a layout. Let me show you!

To make this card, I started with a watercolor paper, a stencil, a brush and my much loved Starburst Baby blue eyes aqua. You can see my process for this one in my video below.

I also did a background with the same technique, so let me show you a couple of pictures of it.

I choose Starburst Magnolia Magenta gold. On this one, to avoid ink flows under my stencil I put a thin coat of spray glue on it. Be sure you have solvent to clean it afterward  or your stencil will stay tacky.

So when your stencil is tacky place it over your paper and gently rub with your fingers to make it stay in place. Take a brush and your favorite Lindy’s starburst color and put ink over it. You should have something like this.

Take your brush and put some clear water over your pattern, it will reactivate the ink and the watercolor effect will appear.

When satisfied with the result just let it dry. I made some splatters on mine. Here’s the final result of my layout.

Now for a close up on the details, I used Starburst Witch’s Potion Purple and Magnolia Magenta Gold on my butterflies. I painted my stamped flowers with Starburst Wild Honeysuckle Coral and Fuzzy Navel peach. Finally, I embossed my title with Hydrangea Blue Mauve powder. The look of it is amazingly beautiful!
