Hi gang! Caroline with you today to share a step by step tutorial of a cute home decor I made for Christmas using magical pigments, spray and embossing powders.
I’ve used flat magicals t-bird turquoise and rizzo’s rowdy red , flat fabio merci beaucoup mint spray and embossing powder candy cane red to decorate that log slice.
Let’s start this tutorial by adding a thin coat of medium matte to protect the wood, then apply white crackle paste with a spatula and let this air dry to have nice crackles. Heat gun won’t give you the same results.
Figure where you want to put your embellishments, I love the cluster look so I concentrate all mine in one corner.
I embossed my chipboard with Powder candy cane red after giving it a thin coat of white gesso. You can’t find a red more perfect for Christmas projects!
My favorite technique to color my die-cuts is to sprinkle a bit of magical powder on it with a fan shaped brush and then to spray water over it. I do this all the time, it gives a gorgeous look and you can see the pigments blending. I used Rizzo’s rowdy red powder pigment here and a mix of T-bird turquoise powder and Merci beaucoup mint flat fabio spray on the snowflakes. Isn’t it gorgeous!?
Glue everything in place.
Then add color here and there underneath your embellishments with your fabulous Magicals and a wet brush. It will give a awesome contrast to your composition.
Let’s see some closer pictures once the project’s finished
I made a short video to show you how I proceed, I hope you’re gonna like it! You can see it also on Lindy’s stamp gang youtube channel.
