Mixed Media Altered Box with Aga

Today I have a little surprise for you. I will show you how to decorate a wooden box with Mists and Embossing powders from Lindy’s. It is a very simple and effective way to alter something and I hope you will like it.

Start by coating the box with gesso or chalky paint, once dry use a hot glue gun to attach some beautiful 3D objects or embellishments and then add more gesso.

Paint on a little of the Tibetan Poppy Teal Starburst around the embellishments and then spray Merci Beaucoup Mint over the flowers and blend the color with a brush.

You will be able to make nice scrape effects by using dish sponge to add the color to the rest of the box – then dry with a heat gun.  Mix a little Cotton Candy Pink magical powder and use a sponge to add this over the surface.  Keep layering the colors, drying between each layer, until you are happy with the effect.  I used Urban Amethyst as my final layer of color.

I love the embossing effect, when you add Guten Tag Teal embossing power over a sticky word!

Add a few touches of gold and some white paint splatters to finish the box and highlight the texture, the gold also really makes the colors pop!

You can watch how I created this below or over on the Lindy’s Stamp Gang channel on YouTube.
