Mixed Media Layout with Elena Martynova

It’s Elena here and my inspiration for May color challenge from Lindy’s. This time the shades are very gentle and calm. Caught a buzz from working with them 🙂 I really like to work with a palette. I don’t like to be tormented by a huge choice of colors, I love to be given a set of sprays and powders which are hand-picked for the task and enjoy the process. It is equally important to choose the right photograph that will help tell the story. I made a full video tutorial for you how I created this page (see below).

First I added a layer of white gesso on my paper. Then I used Magical T-bird Turquoise mixed with white paste to create a butterfly pattern with a stencil and added some light background stamping with Stazon.

All my embellishments got two layers of embossing powder: Angel Wings Gold, Orbit Olive Gold, Pop Rock Purple ,Midnight Pewter

I added pieces of paper to the page, tags, cheesecloth and two photographs, glued together to overlap. I used food-photos of ice-cream in metal jars (I love it) and half the girl’s face. I probably would not have dared to cut down my photos but someone else’s – no problem! If you look closely, you will see that the jar continues the shape of the face.

The die cuts got a layer of Sea Grass Green and embossing powder Angel Wings Gold. I cut off branches from a tree and decorate my layout.

The composition was inspired by the pictures on our challenge banner: lace, twigs and flowers, I also used the same shape as the door (the die cut window).
