The Old Park Canvas with Olga Ravenskaya

Hi dear Lindy’s friends!

It’s Olga Ravenskaya with you today and I’d like to share my new canvas, using gorgeous Lindy’s sprays, magicals and powders of purple and brown shades.

I was inspired by memories of my trip to Saint Petersburg, one of my favorite cities in the world, and by walking in its beautiful old parks with fountains, overgrown paths, blooming trees and tones of flowers.

Today, I’d like to show you how I created the background for my canvas.

I begin every project by choosing a color scheme and Lindy’s products according to it. For this piece I chose beautiful purple, violet and brown colors, this is my (a bit vintage looking), choice of Lindy’s.

To start, with I glued bits of different laces using transparent medium and then covered all the surface with white gesso.

I wanted to make the very bottom layer striped, so I glued strips of washi tape on as in the photo below, to leave canvas under them white, you may use masking tape for this purpose.

I covered the canvas with two starbursts – Whale Watch Blue and French Lilac Violet – mixing them with each other, and at the end sprinkled a bit with Tea Pot Purple magical to make additional shimmer.  Then I removed strips of washi tape.  Just look at this beautiful striped effect.

Next step – I added partially white modeling paste through a stencil.

When it dried, I decided to add more colors using three different shades of purple – Magnolia Magenta Gold, Poppin’ Pink and Frenchy’s Pink Pouf. I added them with a brush trying to follow the paste pattern.

After that, I added stamps using waterproof Stazon inks. Usually I love black stamping but in this case, I wanted to make my canvas softer so my choices were Spiced Chai and Gothic Purple ink they perfectly complimented purple & violet background.

I wanted some extra texture so I mixed Alpine Ice Rose and Magnolia Magenta Gold shakers with the white modeling paste.

and added this mixture through the flower stencil. And one more thing – I added partially a gold petal using transparent gloss gel to give a bit of an aged look.

Ready!

And some close-ups of the finished canvas for a little inspiration…
