“Tropical state of mind” Beach Layout with Caroline

Hi dear friends,

Caroline with you today to share a beachy layout I made. I love the beach, this is my happy place and I never get bored of scrapping it! I found the perfect chipboard title and I’m here to share how I’ve colored it with the magnificent Lindy’s embossing powders and some Magical! This  special ombre embossing is a technique I love so much for engraved chipboards that I have to share!

Let me first show you my entire creation.

I started with clear gesso over my patterned paper. Then I used 3 colors of sprays, making drops here and there and drying between colors with a heat tool. I used first the lighter Starburst Tiffanylou blue once dry I added Starburst Time travel teal and I completed with Starburst Bells of Ireland green.

And look at them when they are completely dry as they catch the light! The shimmer is to die for! I’ve never seen an effect like this before discovering Lindy’s Starbursts!

When assembling my layout, I decided to use a doily die. I cut it in a white cardstock and I sprayed it with Starburst Tiffanylou blue to make it fit perfectly with my background. This is always fun to make our embellishments coordinate with our backgrounds with sprays!

Ok now, let’s start to color our chipboard title. You know I LOVE ombre effect over chippies. It makes the chipboard even more original but… I found a way to make them more eye catching than ever!

First of all, use the lighter embossing powder you want to use. Here I’ve chosen Tilt-a-wheel teal.

Then add the darker shade over half of it, here I used Guten tag teal powder.

You can see that “state of mind” is still visible but not really popping out! I will show you how to make it really POP! Use a tiny amount of embossing paste and a bit of Magical to blend together.

You will get a delightful colored modeling paste to fill the engraved title. Here I used Magical Merry-go-round from the Under the board Walk kit.

With your finger go over the engraved portion and fill up the holes. You will get something like this. Let dry a couple of minutes but not too much! You want to clean the extra paste without emptying the holes. Use a wet baby wipe to take off the excess.

Here’s the final result. I simply LOVE it!

I will leave you with my finished layout and some close ups 🙂
