Altered Garden Lantern with Olga Ravenskaya

Hi gorgeous Lindy’s friends!

It’s Olga Ravenskaya with you today and I’m so excited to share with my new project, using wonderful Lindy’s Sprays and Shakers.

Some time ago I’ve bought an old steel lantern at the flea market with the idea to give it the ‘second’ bright life.

Here it the result of its transformation into a mixed media Garden Lantern.

You can see on the photo how grey and dull it was before 😉  This photo shows the range of Sprays and Shakers I planned to use at the very beginning, but during a process I changed my mind!

So I’ll show today how to turn such a lantern into a colorful and bright thing.

First, I glued bits of cheesecloth to the surface, then sisal and then a third layer – artstones of different sizes. Not only artstones can be used for such a project, any stones, sand, shells of different size will be great too.

Next, I covered all the surface with two-three layers of white gesso and added splashes of texture paste with my fingers.

Then I painted all of the lantern, using Shabby Turbine Teal, Sassy Sapphire, Bachelor Button Blue Starbursts and Summer Lovin’ Sun Flat Fabio spray, applying them with the brush and mixing with each other.

I wanted to make shades more intense, so I used Time Travel Teal, California Poppy and Bavarian Blue Shakers,  to add a second layer of color.

Last, I wanted to add some colorful texture – I mixed clear gesso with Time Travel Teal and California Poppy Shakers, and partially applied this mixture to highlight and intensify the texture.

Have a look at this gorgeous effect closer

At the very end, after all the decorating, I added splashes of mixture of white gesso and the same shakers.

That’s all!:)
