Create Faux Alcohol Ink Cards with Photo Paper

Hello Everyone!

Martina here with you today, sharing a fun and new-to-me technique with you.

I have recently been playing around with different types of paper and my Lindy’s Sprays.  That’s where I found out that Starburst Squirts and Sprays are pure Magic in combination with good old Photo Paper!

So let’s create some cards using this super fun and surprisingly neat technique!

For my first background, I have started with stamping some feather contours onto the photo paper.

Instead of ink, I have been using Banff Blue Squirts that I applied to my craft mat.
I simply dabbed my stamp into the puddle of Banff Blue and stamped it onto the paper. I have repeated this until I liked the coverage of my feather stamp on the photo paper and cleaned my stamp simply by spraying some water onto it and dabbing it off.

To get ready for coloring the feathers, I have added some Merci Beaucoup Mint, Shabby Turbine Teal and Loonie Toonie Teal onto my craft mat and watered it down.

I have painted these watered-down colors randomly onto my paper.  I have been moving the colors around with the brush and by tilting the paper around.

When I liked the coverage of color, I simply wiped the liquid off the paper using my good old cheesecloth (yup, the one I used to call unicorn fur :))

To create another background, I have sprayed different colors of Starburst and Flat Fabio Sprays (Chateau Rose, Cosmopolitan Pink, Salt Water Taffy) onto a new sheet of photo paper.

Instead of  Squirts, I have been using Starburst Spray in “Pretty in Pink Pink” to stamp onto the paper and added – as a finishing touch  – some TCW Tacky when Dry Gel through a stencil to be able to add some gold foil accents for the finish.

I have created three cards with these two backgrounds I have created in this post.

I re-created the first background, to have two sheets of this awesome blue/turquoise paper. I have used one of the sheets as a whole piece on a card with golden feathers. And the other piece of paper has been used to create die cuts of a dragonfly that are used as the centerpiece of a second card. Do I have to mention how much I love Dragonflies?!

My second background paper has been covered with gold foil after the Gel has been dried – a die-cut word and some sequins seemed to be the correct addition to this card.
