Hello Lindy’s Friends, Asia here and I am coming to you today on the Lindy’s blog with my new art journal project and a very cool technique for distress stamping. So let’s start:)
I started by applying water onto a page and then added (with a brush) the following sprays: Starbursts: Witch’s Potion Purple, Magnolia Magenta Gold, Sweet Violet Purple Teal, French Lilac Violet.
I made some splatters with the sprays and then dried it all. I took the background stamp from ColorBox and I applied Lindy’s Starburst- Frolic in the Forest Black over the stamp. I used one of my wider brushes to apply the spray and spread it more-less evenly throughout the stamp. By using this technique I got a distressed stamped image, which was exactly what I was aiming at. Very often stamped images are too precise and crisp and they cover too well the paint. Stamping this way lets me control the background even more and gives more interest to the page.
The next step was to add some more stamping which I embossed with Lindy’s EP- Urban Amethyst.
I prepared my focal point, a Roman numeral wood veneer, by adding a layer of gesso and spraying it with Starburst Silent Night Silver. Then I embossed it unevenly with EP- Obviously Black. I wanted the number to stand out but did not want it to be completely covered in black and too overwhelming for the page. I applied the embossing powder twice to achieve the result I wanted. I love this way of embossing:)
I added all the embellishments to the page, silver thread, pieces of tissue paper, washi tapes, cabochons, Mini Art Stones, etc. I did also some doodling with 3D paint, wrote a few words, made a border, added some silver rub-ons and stapled crosses all over the page.
At the very last I added touches of dark blue, Flat Fabio- Tweedle Dee Denim.
That’s the finished project:
