Bright and Colorful Butterflies

Hello Lindy’s Fans!!!!  It is Natasha here and I am excited to be back on the Lindy’s blog with you today!  I am excited to share a bright and colorful card with you today using a few amazing color’s from Lindy’s including some from the latest release!  So let’s get started!

I started by creating watercolor panels using several Lindy’s colors.  The backgrounds I created were for my butterfly die cuts!  I started with 2 pieces of mixed media paper.  I spritzed some water on my glass mat, placed the paper on top, then added a bit more water to the top side of the paper.  For the butterfly die cuts I created 2 panels, one panel had more of the pink/orange/purple tones and the other was more blue tones.  For each panel I followed the same process, adding Lindy’s colors, including magicals, shakers, Starburst Sprays, and Flat Fabio Sprays.  I applied the color, spritzed with water, then used my heat tool to dry.  I  then added droplets of water to the panel and picked them up with a dry paper towel.  I love this look, as it gives the panel more dimension.  I continued this process until I had the look I was going for.  For the butterfly panels, I used the following products:

  • Alexandra’s Artist Magicals: Jana’s Jade, Andrea Azalea
  • Deutsch Desserts: Berlinger Filling Fuchsia
  • Magical Shakers: Antique Gold, Guten Tag Teal
  • Falt Fabio Spray: Luscious Lime, Mango Mania
  • Starburst Spray: Hi Maintenance Magenta, Sassy Sapphire

Once the panels were complete and fully dry, I die cut the butterflies using a coordinating die and then dry embossed them using an embossing folder.  I then added a bit of Foundry Wax to each butterfly for a bit of added shine.  To add a bit more dimension to the butterflies, I added some Distress Oxide inks. You can achieve a similar look using embossing powders as well!!!!

Next I started to work on my background panel for my butterflies.  For the background I started with 2 pieces of Mixed Media paper and followed the same process as I shared above using the latest collection from Lindy’s – Natalie May’s Flat Magicals collection.  I used Commit to it Teal and It is What it is Yellow.  Once each panel was complete I die-cut 5 smaller circles out of one panel and then used the other as my card background.  On my die-cut circles, I stamped a bubble stamp using White Pigment ink.  On my card background, I chose several stamps to add more texture to the background using black ink.  Next, I distressed the edges of the card panel using a distress tool and then applied distress ink to the edges.  I then added a few splatters to the card front panel and allowed these to dry.

To complete the card I adhered the background panel to an A2 card base.  Then I decided on placement for the butterflies and the circle die cuts.  I then adhered these using foam tape and liquid glue.  I completed the card with a sentiment from my stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I had a lot of fun creating today’s card and I hope you like it!  I will be back soon!
