Mixed Media Butterfly Journal Page with Natasha

Hello everyone!  I am excited to be back up on the Lindy’s blog with you today! I had a lot of fun creating today’s journal entry and I am excited to share my process with you, so let’s get started!

I started by working in my journal with the Totally 80’s Magicals collection.  My background has 4 colors: Pretty in Pink, Bodacious Blush, Gag me with a Spoon Gray, and Midnight Rendevous.   I start with 1 color at a time and spritz with water. Then I continue the process until all 4 colors are on the page. I then dry with my heat tool, spritz with water, and “pull up” the excess color with my paper towel.  I then repeat the process until I have the color and textures I am looking for.  I love adding water to the Magicals on the page, as this gives so much texture! I also went back in and added a bit of Glitzy Gold to add extra sparkle and shine to each page.  I encourage you to layer the colors well!  Its super fun and the textures are beautiful!  Once my page was completely dry, I added a stencil called Peculiar Kind of Rainbow.  I placed the stencil on the top page of my journal and applied Crackle paste through the stencil.  I allowed this to dry.  Then I added Alpine Ice Rose Shimmer spray to various sections of my journal.  Next, I applied ink to various edges of the journal to add more texture and depth.

While my top page in my journal was drying I started to work on the bottom page.  I applied Collage paper on the bottom right corner and applied this with collage medium.  I then added White Gesso to the top of the Collage paper with a paintbrush.  I applied the gesso to add a bit of texture.  Once the stencil and collage paper/gesso were dry, I added stamping to both pages in my journal.  I used a combination of black ink, as well as white pigment ink for several stamps.

Next, I die cut my butterfly using a die in my stash.  I die-cut the butterfly image 2 times and adhered this together with liquid glue.  I then added areas of Foundry Wax for added shine.

Next, I added white splatters to each page.  Once the splatters were dry, I started to adhere all the elements in my journal.  I used liquid glue to adhere the items in my journal.  I added a couple sentiments to complete the page.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I can’t wait to see what you create with Lindy’s!  I am sharing the Lindy’s supplies I used below!
