Let’s Create a Magical Card Background with Natasha

Hello Gang!  I am excited to be back up on the blog today!  Today I am sharing a card design where the background is the focal point of my card!  I love using Lindy’s Gang Sprays and Magicals to create gorgeous backgrounds with lots of texture and interest!  So let’s get started!

For today’s card, I started by choosing my color palette.  I wanted to create a variety of blue tones using sprays and Magicals.  I used the following colors:

  • Flat Fabio Sprays: Merci Beaucoup Mint, Danny Zuko’s Denim, Caribbean Blue
  • Starburst Spray: Time Travel Teal
  • Flat Magicals Natalie May’s Words of Wisdom

Creating backgrounds is one of my favorite things to create for my cards and inside my journal.  To create the background I started with a piece of Canson Mixed Media paper. I lightly spritzed the paper using my water bottle.  Next, I started to add sprays to the damp background. I typically add 1-2 colors at a time.  Then I dry the background with my heat tool, add droplets of water, and “pull off” the color with a paper towel.  I continue this process by adding more colors (Magicals and Sprays) until I have the colors in the background I am looking for.  I find the more layers of color I add the more depth in my background!

Once my background was dry, I applied Distress Micro Glaze over the top.  I allowed this to dry, then added a text stamp to various sections of my background using Archival Ink.  Next, I die cut the background using a rectangle die from my stash.  I then inked up the edges a bit using Distress Ink.  I then added white splatters and set the background aside to dry.

Next, I die cut the Flower Field Silhouette using a die.  I then adhered the flower field background to my magicals background using both foam tape and liquid adhesive.  I added some dried flowers on top and adhered them with a dot glue.  I then stamped the sentiment and adhered this with foam tape.

I had so much fun creating today’s card!  It was fun and easy to put together!  I will be back soon!

Crafty Hugs,

Natasha
