Steampunk Soiree Journal with Natasha

Hello Lindy’s Gang friends!  It is Natasha here and I am excited to be back on the blog today!  For today’s project I had fun working in my journal with the beautiful new Steampunk Soiree Magicals and Starburst Sprays sets!  They are truly beautiful, so let’s get started!

First I started by adding a strip of faux glassine paper to my journal on one side.  I added this to add a bit of texture and dimension.  Next I stamped images onto the background of the journal using Versafine Ink.  I allowed the ink to dry, then it was time to add color to my journal page!  I am super excited about the colors in these new sets, they are beautiful and so much fun to work with!  I started with the Steampunk Soiree Magicals in my journal.  To create the background, I used 2 colors from the new set: Petticoat Plum and Top Hat Teal.  I spritzed my journal page with a bit of water, then added each of the colors above 1 at a time.  Once one layer was complete, I allowed them to dry, then went back in to add a bit more color, including Glitzy Magicals in Gleaming Gold.

I allowed the page to dry on its own.  Once it was dry, I added water droplets and picked up some excess color using a paper towel.  I repeated this process a couple times to add a bit of texture.  Next, I spritzed a couple panels of Mixed media paper using the Starburst Sprays in Petticoat Plum and Apothecary Azure, these are 2 new colors from the latest collection.  Once dry, I die-cut a few circles.  Next, I used a stencil in my stash to add more texture to each circle using a distress oxide ink in a similar color.

Next, I chose some ephemera from my stash for my journal.  I applied distress inks to the edges of the ephemera.  I then wanted to add a bit more texture to the journal background. I applied white gesso to the journal page using a brayer.  I then added a bit of washi tape in various places.  Next, I added more texture by adding splatter to the page using Lindy’s Flat Fabio Spray in the color Sidewalk Chalk.  I added a few gold splatters as well.

Once the background was dry I determined the placement of all my elements, including a piece of cheese cloth that I sprayed with Petticoat Plum Starburst Spray.   I then adhered everything to my journal using liquid glue.  Once everything was adhered, I die cut a few hearts from the panels I created earlier.  I added texture to the hearts using Chrome Doesn’t Pay Embossing powder.  I glued down the hearts and added a sentiment to complete my journal page.

I had a lot of fun today and absolutely love the new sets! I will see you soon!

Natasha
