Create a Textured Background | Art Journal with Lindy’s

Hello Gang!  It is Natasha here today and I am excited to be up on the blog!  For today’s project ‘Don’t forget to fly’ I worked in my art journal to create a textured background! I love to work in my journal with Lindy’s colors, it is truly relaxing!  So let’s get started!

I started my journal with South Shore Sand Flat Fabio Spray.  I spritzed the art journal page with the Flat Fabio Spray and then dried the color with my heat tool.  I then spritzed the page with water droplets and pulled up some color with a paper towel.  I continued to repeat this process with 2 more Lindy’s Sprays: Golden Doubloons and Gossamer Gold (Moon Shadow Mist).  I repeated the process as shared above several times until I had the texture on my page I was looking for.

Next I added some texture to the journal page using a stencil.  I first applied ink through the stencil using my blending tool and distress oxide ink.  I allowed the color to dry, then repeated the process using the same stencil with embossing powder.  I applied embossing ink through the stencil with a blending tool and then Gimme Five Gold embossing powder to the page.  I heat set the powder and repeated the process in various sections of my journal page.  I love the added texture with the ink and powder.

Next I chose the pieces for my journal page.  I used various pattern papers, cheese cloth, a black and white photo, as well as leaves and ephemera.  I applied ink to various pieces using a blending tool. I added some rub ons to the background of my journal for added texture.  I then added a few splatters to the journal page using Flat Fabio Spray in Sidewalk Chalk.

I allowed the splatters to dry, then adhered all the elements to the journal page using liquid glue and glue dots. I chose a sentiment from my stash to complete my journal page.

I had a lot of fun creating today’s page!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Natasha
