Magical Collage Journal Page with Ericka

Hello gang, Ericka here with my first post for Lindy’s and today I have a collage journal page using the gorgeous Magicals in several ways. I love how versatile and easy to use these shimmery powders are and they always produce beautiful results.

Basic Steps:
1. Prime the canvas with white gesso.
2. Arrange collage elements on the page and use Matte Medium to adhere pieces onto the page.
3. Apply clear gesso over the collage piece and dry thoroughly.
4. Apply the first layers of Magicals directly on the page by picking up the powder with a wide brush and tapping it on the page. Lightly spritz the powder until you get the look you want. Let each layer dry. Tip – You can use a wet brush, your finger, or tilt your page to get the color to move around.  I used:

5. After full drying grab your favorite Magicals and add them to a pallet with some water. Use a brush to spread around the colors. This typically gives a darker controlled placement of color to the page.  I used:

6. Dry and add Tibetan Poppy Teal Magical to the embossing paste and apply through a stencil for added texture. Let dry.
7. Add white acrylic paint to the section you want to highlight.
8. Add dimension with a darker color, I used Narwhal Navy Starburst Spray and took the applicator out to draw lines around portions of my collage.
9.  Dry and add the final touches to your layout which can include a focal image (I used a printed tag) and/or words.
10. Finish by adding some shading around portions of the collage with a Stabilo All Pencil and blend it in with a damp brush.

Here is my step-by-step video along with some close-ups with sparkle – hope you enjoy it!

I hope you have enjoyed my first post,

Ericka
