Bright and Colorful ATC’s with Cindy

Hi awesome gang! It’s Cindy here today to show you how to create these fun, bright and colorful Artist Trading Cards, using Lindy’s Gang Starburst Sprays, Flat Fabio’s, Magical Shakers and some gorgeous Embossing Powders.

I started out by cutting three ATC’s (6,4 x 8,9 cm) out of a cardboard box. I planned on using the colors of this months challenge, so I had them ready.

Then I’ve added several layers of white gesso to the cards to make sure I had a solid white base to start with.

Next, I sprayed the colors California Poppy Gold, Hibiscus Rose, French Lilac Violet and Magnolia Magenta Gold on a plastic palette and added the colors on the cards using a brush. I’ve used my heat gun to dry in between layers to prevent the colors bleeding too much between layers or mixing. You can’t really see it on the photo but the shimmer is just gorgeous at this point.

I’ve added some pieces of printed tissue paper and used Mod Podge to seal them. I actually found out that Mod Podge really brightens the colors and after I added a layer of clear Gesso the colors were even more bright.

I used a honeycomb stamp and stamped it on the cards using Archival ink or VersaMagic. I liked both of them but I regret a little not using the Archival ink on all the cards. I love the effect of the Sunset Yellow Orange Embossing powder and Jet Black ink.

To create some texture, I added a layer of black modeling paste through a stencil. I wanted to add a bit more textured effect to it, so I decided to sprinkle some Aurora Amethyst Embossing powder on top of that and heat set it. The paste starts to crinkle a bit and I love to use black pastes with Lindy’s EP.

I decided I still missed something and mixed some white gesso with Guten Tag Teal Magical Shaker powder, first a bit more saturated as you can see with the brighter blue prints that I created using a stencil, later I added more gesso and used the palette knife, glass bottle and cork to stamp with.

I finished the background of the ATC’s with a bit more stamping using Archival and Oxide inks and I highlighted parts of the stamped prints using a white gel pen. Then I added pieces of wire and secured them with tiny brads. I stamped these gorgeous flying creatures on parchment paper and attached them to the cards with a tiny piece of double adhesive tape so their wings still move. As finishing touch I glued the text stickers on corrugated cardboard and added them to the cards. I thought the be(e) brave was a fun little wordplay ;).

When I started I didn’t have a picture in my head of what my finished ATC’s would look like and I really enjoyed the process. I didn’t expect them to come out this pretty and although I’m always a bit afraid of bright colors I’m definitely going to create some more with this months palette :D!
