Dreamy Effect Technique with Nuneka

Hi Lindy’s lovers!!
It’s Nuneka here and today I would like to show you one of my favorite techniques with Lindy’s: dreamy effect background. For that I’ve recorded a video with a small project to give you some ideas on how to use it, but let me point out some keys to get the best results.

I usually do this technique when I want to create a dreamy sky or kind of snowy feeling, but today I decided to do it in pick and peach, so you can see it works with whatever color you want to use. Also you can do it with sprays or Magicals, that’s up to you! And you can work on watercolor paper (no gesso needed) or any other surface as canvas, wooden panel, scrapbooking paper (all these options, gesso coat needed).

So all you have to do is adding you colors for the background first, in this case I used Magicals Cocklebells Coral, Kissin’ Kenickie Coral and Autumn Maple Crimson. I sprinkled them on the watercolor paper and sprayed some water. I moved the tag a bit for the colors to flow and blend and then dried with the heat tool, but not completely and that’s the key!! You need the colors to be slightly wet for the next step.

The dreamy effect comes when you create some kind of blurred areas, where the colors are fading. And for that you need white. What works better is Frozen Jack Frost spray (but you can use any white Magical and mix it with water on your palette). But wait, we’re not going to spray it, no. Just take the tube and make some splatters on top of the wet colors, you’ll see how they start blurring. When you are happy with the look, dry.

If you want to go harder on the effect, you can also add some white splatters (I use gouache, but gesso or acrylic paint work too) and spray a little water, let them blend and dry. And when the project is done, add some more white splatters, why not?

I invite you to watch the process video and discover how I colored the leaves with Magicals and how I added that gorgeous shimmer to the chipboard:
